I'm really hopeful the time and effort Benning is putting into scouting pans out this year Carol. I'm also sincerely hoping they acquire another first round pick this spring!!
Good to see their draft picks playing well, but, until they prove they can play professional hockey…they're just good prospects. At least we have something to look forward to in terms of youth. |

Honestly, I'm not expecting much from this team prospect-wise for 2-3 years. Once the core is turned over, hopefully we'll have the players ready to grow and make a run. I still don't see any potential 1C in our system to replace Henrik and that's got to be priority #1 for Linden/Benning. The twins need a Couture/Pavelski who can push them and protect them and Bonino just isn't it as he looks to be a 3C/2C tweener. |

If Jared McCann can turnout as good or almost as good as Logan Couture, we've got a winner right there. As always though, a lot of "ifs" when it comes to prospects. |

I'd say it's more like 4-5 years as the 'rebuild' should technically start at the beginning of next season. It's going to be tough for Van fans to take no playoffs for the majority of that time but that's life. Gonna be a minimum 5 seasons to get back to even a sniff of the top 10...maybe longer.
And even if we pull off a minor miracle and somehow make the playoffs this season it will be interesting to say the least about how it will all play out.

One thing that Jordan Subban has going for him is his shot. In Penticton last year he was shooting from everywhere. As a offensive D he's the same height as Tory Krug 5'9 who can play in the NHL. Wouldn't that be something if he made it? |

Trevor Linden had Sushi with him last year in Kelowna. Problem is it will cost picks/prospects which eliminates VAN. - VanHockeyGuy
I am in no way advocating giving up much to get Doan.
But if this scenario is similar to what played out between us and Anaheim, with Kesler. I am wondering how little we would have to give up to get him?
Doan has his ntc and almost signed here before he signed with Arizona. If he has a small list of teams or no list, just the Canucks, he'd be willing to waive for...
He only has one season remaining after this one. Might be a good stop gap while prospects are maturing, just don't know how it works with the cap and what would have to go the other way.
If it is a choice of him not waiving or waiving only for the Canucks, the Yotes may take whatever deal is offered to just cut salary and tank. |

Would be nice to see him acquire a couple of more higher picks.

The only way I'd want Doan here is if AZ does him a favour and sends him here for spare parts.
Doan has a NTC so he could force their hand.
Maybe they send him here for a couple of pending ufa or cheap versatile wingers just to fill out the roster, allowing them to trade other players for picks. They still need to ice a line-up for the rest of the year.

McCann is very good. Guy has amazing numbers when you consider the mono and the fact he has mostly defebsi b e zone starts. And SSM without question now has the best team in the OHL |

I think alone not too much that's why he's still here. Package deal may be a different story. |

I wouldn't say it isn't possible but I wouldn't do it for a player with imo a bright future ahead of him for someone at the end of theirs. As for respectable return. I hate to say it I would take a chance on a player for player deal. Potential for potential. I didn't really hurt us in taking a chance on him in the first place. Personally I would give him more time unless a deal falls in our lap that we can't say no to. At this point Gagner is more appealing to me than Doan. |
